Good news for single NSmen
TODAY, 17 July 2009
Single NSmen have a new matchmaker: Safra National Service Association.
It will cater to the “life-stage needs” of NSmen by organizing “movie events” with the Social Development Unit-Social Development Service. The collaboration begins in September with a “mega-movie screening for singles”, Safra president and Minister of State (Defence) Koo Tsai Kee said at the first anniversary of MovieMax, its micro club for 3,000 younger NSmen.
He expects membership to grow to 5,500 by year-end.
Another initiative launched yesterday was a $100,000 assistance scheme, sponsored jointly by NTUC FairPrice Foundation, offering one-time grocery vouchers to needy NSmen and their families on a first-come, first-served basis from Monday.
Safra is spending another $300,000 in discounts, promotions and prizes, such as air tickets and one year’s supply of free lunches for members.
‘Tis what we spend our money on. Movie nights for singles to meet up. And in case there ain’t enough singles to go around, now we have a ready supply of hot-blooded NSmen.
You’ve got to love Singapore for its creativity.
